Solved : question about U_ALR_JOB

On the command manual, I found this:

"Once the time limit has been reached, Dollar Universe executes the script U_ALR_JOB (on Windows: U_ALR_JOB.bat or U_ALR_JOB.cmd) located in the UXMGR directory of the company.
The definition of the U_ALR_JOB variable allow a different naming of this script."

I tried in my batch before %UXEXE%\uxalrjob 10 to put set U_ALR_JOB=o:\tmp\test.bat so that my script gets called, but didnt worked (it still called u_alr_job.bat from mgr folder).

I've also tried to add a variable to the $U job in GUI (add variable -> text with name U_ALR_JOB) but no success.

How it should be done? (i'm using dollaru 5.2.3)

Thanks

Hello all,
I have a question.
I have a job, and I'm using uxalrjob to send an alert when it takes longer than usually.
My problem is this. In U_ALR_JOB.bat I'd like to call an exe or a script from a shared drive (for example \\share\Folder\SendSTMP.exe ), but there seems to be problems in doing this.
Is there anyway I could call a script or something from a shared location in U_ALR_JOB?

Thanks!

Solved : Technical Discusion about rule "NEVER"

Hello,

i am wondering about the internal calculator algorhythm when you use a rule "NEVER".
The background is i have a customer who created a rule "NEVER". The rule will never produce schedule.
I am interested in the TECHNICAL aspect of using such a rule. What does the calculator engine with such a rule ?

I know of course that are several ways to reach the goal that are more transparent and better but as i wrote i am only interested in the internal technical aspect of the calculator engine.

The background of using such a rule is :
There about 100-120 HR Jobs that had to run to specific dates overall the year. So the customer had created task`s with the rule "NEVER". If the the HR Division had fixed their dates the tasks will be updated with an execution date. This procedure happens each month. My personal opinion is to avoid using such a rule but i need technical facts that helps me in my argumentation

best regards

Solved : What type of launches when activate disabled tasks

Hi all,

not sure it's an issue so before raising a request to the support I would like your ideas on it:

When we disable a task the launches of that one are still created in a disabled state and are never launched, this is OK.
But when we enable again the task I tought the last created launch will become enabled (and start if the activation of the task happens during the launch window). Is that right?

What happened this weekend is that I enabled a lots of tasks at the same time and all the launches were still disabled after even if these launches were in their launch window...

Do you have explanations or clues for this?

Many thanks,
Cyrille

Hi there,

I have a central node with all the objects of my nodes (templated tasks, Upr, Ses, Res, ...) and I would like to know what do I have to distribute for a full task to work on one of my nodes.

I know I have to distribute the Uprocs (CL files included), Session, Task but what about:
- the Calendar? Does it use the local one or the one on the central node?
- the rules? I know they're included in the task and if all the modifications are done on the central node do I need them?
-the resources? Are they, as the rules, included in the task?

Thanks for your answer,

Cyrille

Something odd happened.
We created two model tasks: Task A with rule TV4J, first schedule date and application date March, 3rd. This task was duplicated to Task B. Then task A was distributed to server A and task B to server B.
And then the following happened: Simulating said both tasks will run first on March, 3rd. But: Task A created a launch for March, 2nd, Task B created one for March, 3rd.
Both calendars are the same, also both rules. We changed the uproc on server A (just an exit 0) to see if the job will really run and yes, it did.

Has anybody any idea?
