Solved : Job must not run on the 3 first working days of each month

Hello,

I need to schedule the following rule :

Process must run each working days of the month, except the 3 first working days of this month.

Is there a simple way to manage this by the rule ?
Because today I notice we can easily exclude the 3 first calendar days of the month with the new tab "Days in Month", but I need the same with Working Days.
By the same way, the task today doesn't allow to exclude non explicit dates.

I know there's some other solution for this (like create a dedicated calendar with 3 first working days off) but I just want if there's a more simple and optimized way to do it

Thanks for advice !

Hi,
I have a Task I am currently testing in the Applications area. This task is currently set to disabled but I am tracking the Launches being generated each day to verify correct scheduling. The task was created on Tuesday, and a launch entry was created for Wed, Thu, Fri, Mon (today), and Tue (for tomorrow following today's execution window) but not for Saturday or Sunday. The rule being used is TV4_J, which is the same rule a task in the Production area is using that has been generating the launches everyday correctly. I have reviewed the rule and everyday is checked off for Worked, Closed, and Holiday.
Solved : Erase Launch Production

Hello,

we are moving or migratinf our dollar universes production nodes to another new machines, and everything seems to works fine.

But I have made a mistake, and ERASE all the planifications from these nodes, because I dont want to execute nothing from the tasks that we have migrated. These nodes are not in prodcution yet

When I have erased all the calculated taks, I stop the calculator and launcher engines, and make my proves, and everithig works.

But when I have started the calculator engine again, only calculates from the point time that I have erased, a few hours later, and then the xalculator engines only calculates tasks from the future, but the deleted planifications never more are calculated.

With proceses that execute day by day, no problem, we migrate on 10 days, so they are going to be calculated tomorrow again.

The problem is with the month tasks, semanal, etc.

The point I want to reach: is there anything we can do to "recalculate" everything from a point in the time from the past, for example, today at 10:00 AM????

Thanks for your help, really need.

Solved : Bank holiday reminder

Is it possible to create a rule so that a UPROC runs 2 (or 3 days) before a bank holiday?

Need to send an email reminder just before a bank holiday so that staff remember to do something.

Fairly easy to set up a UPROC to send an email the tricky bit is the scheduling. Can create a rule so that the UPROC only runs on bank holidays (Mon- Fri), however this is not much use as a reminder as it is too late.

What is needed is for the UPROC to run say 2 (or 3) working days before the bank holiday.

This can be done with a script testing the days in advance to their type and sending an email if 2 days in advance is a bank holiday, but this seems a little heavy handed.
different time zones on server

Hi together,

we have some $U environments with tasks for different time zones.
For example: the server time is EDT (US Eastern Daylight Time), with a lot of tasks based on that time. Other tasks are running for Brazil. Right now they have winter time, their time zone is BRT, with an offset of +1 hour to the server time.
The offsets to Germany ( to my GCO client) is -5 h for EDT and -4 h for BRT. Germany is changing to Daylight time on March, 29th.
When times are changing from winter to summer time and vice versa, the offsets change, too. Then we have to change the schedules of the tasks manually.

So now:
How can I use the time zone feature of $U in order to leave the schedules as they are and just change the offsets twice a year? I know I can define MUs with offsets but are quite confused with the displays of Global control and Graphical Job Monitor.
Which times appears when I want to launch a job?
What about the processing day when the launch is around midnight? Rules?

We use one GJM to display all $Us in one environment. So we have servers with German, Shanghai and US times. When I switch the display to MU-Time and use an offset for the display (e.g. completed jobs of the last 5 hours), the calculation of the display is based on the time of my GJM. That means I miss jobs of the American server. Also I see too much jobs of the Shanghai server.

Quite difficult, isn't it?

I really hope someone can help.

Installations: $U 513 with patches, $U 533 with patches, GCO 2.4

Best regards
Monika

Announcement : New features on Rules & Tasks in 5.3

Hi,

I've checked the release notes of 5.3 and found several interesting enhancements on Rules and Tasks.

You now can define a Rule which applies only to specific days in the month (eg: the 5th, 10th to 20th, 25th of the month) or only to specific months in the year (eg: 1st on the month except for August).

There is also the possiblity to define parallel Tasks where next launch is calculated at the begining of the Launch window, and not at the end anymore, which can prove useful for multi-launch Tasks.

Last but not least, you can define cyclical Tasks which are a nice complement to the existing categories.

Kenny
